Traffic impacts around VCU Medical Center expected for second weekend
Road closures and detours are planned in downtown Richmond due to a major bridge rehabilitation project over Interstate 95.

The second weekend of road closures on Interstate 95 near VCU Medical Center are expected March 15 through March 18.
Weather permitting, Virginia Department of Transportation will continue work to replace the bridge on East Broad Street (Route 250) in Richmond. This bridge runs over the interstate.
The closures are scheduled to begin Friday, March 15 at 8 p.m. through Monday, March 18 at 6 a.m. Those traveling on several major roadways to get to the VCU Medical Center and MCV Campus should expect lane reductions and detours around the work zones. Future dates for lane closures and detours will be shared ahead of time as this project continues.

Traffic impacts for the weekend of March 15 to March 18:
- Lane reductions: The northbound and southbound travel lanes of I-95 at mile marker 74, will be reduced to one lane in each direction continuously.
- Road closures: Exit 74B (I-95 South to Franklin Street), Westbound ramp from Broad Street to I-95, Ramp from Broad Street to I-95 South
- Pedestrian access: Access to Broad Street will remain available.
- Alternative routes: Motorists traveling through the Richmond area should use I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301 to avoid significant delays.
